Viticulture

Cooler spring mornings signaled the start of 2022 vintage, which is the norm for Marlborough. One thing the region wasn’t short of was rainfall. Winter and spring exceeded the long-term average, perfect for topping up rivers and aquifers as we headed into the warm, dry summer months. All eyes were on the all-important flowering period, especially after a light 2021 vintage. The weather gods were on our side with settled weather aiding fruit set. Summer temperatures were slightly ahead of the long-term average, with February and March cooling down to support long slow ripening, perfect for early flavour development while retaining acid levels.

Vinification

To create an organic Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavour and texture, our winemakers gently press off the must prior to cold settling. Cool fermentation temperatures using selected yeasts build aromatics and flavour. The wine was rested on fine lees giving the wine further complexity prior to bottling.
