Tohu Whenua Awa Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Description
Grown in our Whenua Awa Vineyard in the Upper Awatere Valley, Marlborough. Fruit is from our 5.06ha Arapoto Block farmed using organic practices. Modern machine harvested in the cool of early morning the fruit is gently pressed to stainless steel tanks for fermentation with select yeasts. 23% of the wine is then matured in older French oak barrels for eight months before final blending.
A luscious, richly textured wine with citrus, tropical fruit, lemongrass and crushed herbs on the nose. Minerality, fruit concentration and juicy characters on the palate. Fresh and persistent finish.

Arapoto Block 5.06ha in our Whenua Awa Vineyard. Upper Awatere Valley Marlborough. Grown using organic practices. Planted in 2002. Higher, drier and cooler than the main Marlborough valley allowing for extended ripening times.

Viticulture
Sustainably grown grapes using organic practices in our Whenua Awa Vineyard. 2022-23 was an excellent ripening season with cool but sunny, dry weather and low yields. Extended time on the vine resulted in concentrated, ripe fruit retaining fresh acidity.
Vinification
Gently modern membrane pressed to stainless steel tanks for fermentation with carefully selected yeasts. 23% of the wine then matured in old French oak barriques for eight months before final blending in spring. Bottled January 2024
